John Deere 4850

The John Deere 4850 is a versatile, rugged, and reliable row-crop tractor that served its owners well from 1983 to 1988. Manufactured at John Deere's Waterloo, Iowa plant, it featured a powerful 207.9 horsepower engine, full power shift transmission, and the durability emblematic of the John Deere brand. The 4850 could be fitted with either a 2WD or 4WD chassis to match the task at hand, providing excellent power and traction. Its six-cylinder, turbo-intercooled, liquid-cooled diesel engine with a 466 cubic inch displacement and a 15 forward and 4 reverse gear transmission illustrated the tractor's capability to handle a variety of demanding tasks in the field. The tractor was designed with comfort in mind as well, offering an optional Sound-Gard cab or Roll-Gard ROPS to protect the operator. With a significant hitch lift capacity and robust hydraulic system, the 4850 was well-primed for diverse farming needs.
