John Deere 440C

The John Deere 440C is a rugged, industrial crawler tractor built between 1958 and 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa, USA. Intended for demanding tasks, it offers versatility and durability for a variety of industrial applications. This tractor could be powered by one of two different engines, depending on the configuration: a General Motors 2-53 two-cylinder diesel engine or a John Deere two-cylinder gasoline engine. It had a gear type transmission featuring either 4 forward gears and 1 reverse, or 5 forward gears and one reverse, with a dry disc clutch. The 440C was designed with a manual clutches steering system and contracting band brakes. It featured an open operator station and ran on tracks, suitable for various terrain challenges. With fuel capacities of 39.7 liters, operators could enjoy substantial working hours without the need for frequent refueling.
