This tractor was manufactured by the Cub Cadet (a part of International Harvester) in Louisville, Kentucky, USA from 1979 to 1981 and later by the Cub Cadet (a part of MTD) in Brownsville, Tennessee, USA from 1982 to 1986. The Cub Cadet 982 is equipped with a 0.8 L two-cylinder gasoline engine and shaft-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears. The Cub Cadet 982 garden tractor used the Onan B48G engine.
