Last Updated: July 2024

Overview

The Allis Chalmers B is a 2WD row-crop tractor, which was manufactured by Allis Chalmers from 1938 to 1957. It features a manual steering system, differential mechanical contracting band brakes, and was available with an open operator station or an optional canvas cab. The Allis Chalmers B came equipped with a 1.9 L (113.0 cu·in), 1.9 L (116.1 cu·in) or 2.1 L (125.2 cu·in) four-cylinder gasoline engine from Waukesha. The unsynchronized gear transmission with dry disc clutch provides 3 forward and 1 reverse gears. According to independent test results from the University of Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory, the tractor achieved a maximum belt horsepower of 15.68 HP at 1540 RPM, a maximum drawbar horsepower of 12.97 HP, and a drawbar horsepower efficiency of 13.54 HP (sea level calculated). The engine was equipped with a Zenith 61A7 carburetor (size 1.125") and had an oil capacity of 1.554 gallons (to motor) and 1.685 gallons (drained from motor). The belt pulley had a diameter of 9.5", a face of 5.25", and operated at 1050 RPM. The front tires were 5.00" x 15" with 22 psi, and the rear tires were 7.00" x 24" with 12 psi air pressure. The total operating weight as tested was 2605 lb.
